Microleakage of Composite Inlays Luted with Self-adhesive Cements

چکیده

Objective: To evaluate the microleakage of three self-adhesive cements and one etch & rinse resin cement on dentin and enamel interfaces. Methods: Forty-eight inlays preparations (n=12) with enamel and dentin margins were performed on extracted teeth. After impressions, indirect composite inlays were manufactured and luted with self-adhesive resin cements (RelyX U100, Maxcem or SpeedCem) or an etch & rinse resin cement (Nexus 3). Restored teeth were thermocycled and immersed in a silver nitrate solution. Specimens were cut through restorations, surfaces were photographed and microleakage was measured with aid of computer software (Image J). Statistical analysis was realized with KruskalWallis nonparametric test (P<0.05). Results: Statistical analysis of enamel-cement interfaces showed that Nexus provided better marginal sealing than Speedcem (p<0.05). Considering dentin-cement interface, RelyX U100 presented the smaller microleakage degree than Speedcem and Maxcem (p<0.05). Conclusions: Among self-adhesive resin cements, RelyX U100 showed better sealing ability of enamel and dentin margins and its performance was comparable to Nexus 3. *Corresponding author: Diogo Pedrollo Lise, Departamento de Odontologia, Disciplina de Dentística, Sala 138, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Campus Universitário-Trindade, CEP 88040-970, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, Tel: +55 48 37219880; Fax: +55 48 37219880; E-mail: [email protected] Received February 11, 2014; Accepted March 03, 2014; Published March 05, 2014 Citation: Lise DP, Lopes GC, Maia HP, Baratieri LN (2014) Microleakage of Composite Inlays Luted with Self-adhesive Cements. Influence of Two Desensitizer Agents on the Microleakage of Adhesively Luted Ceramic Inlays

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of two different desensitizers (Hemaseal & Cide and Aqua Prep F) on the microleakage of ceramic inlay restorations luted with adhesive resin cement. METHODS Cylindrical Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of thirty extracted human third molars. One of the desensitizers (either Hemaseal&Cide, Advantage Dental Pr...

Microleakage of Two Self-Adhesive Cements in the Enamel and Dentin After 24 Hours and Two Months

OBJECTIVE Microleakage is a main cause of restorative treatment failure. In this study, we compared occlusal and cervical microleakage of two self-adhesive cements after 24 hours and two months. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this in-vitro experimental study, class II inlay cavities were prepared on 60 sound human third molars. Composite inlays were fabricated with Z100 composite resin. The teeth w...

Tensile bond strength of indirect composites luted with three new self-adhesive resin cements to dentin

OBJECTIVE The aims of this study were to evaluate the tensile bond strengths between indirect composites and dentin of 3 recently developed self-adhesive resin cements and to determine mode of failure by SEM. MATERIAL AND METHODS Exposed dentin surfaces of 70 mandibular third molars were used. Teeth were randomly divided into 7 groups: Group 1 (control group): direct composite resin restorati...

Polymerization contraction stress in dual-cure cements and its effect on interfacial integrity of bonded inlays.

OBJECTIVES To compare the polymerization contraction stress of resin cements in dual-cure and self-cure modes, and verify its effect on microleakage and gap formation in class I cavities restored with porcelain inlays. METHODS Dual-cure cements (Calibra, Choice and RelyX ARC) were monitored for contraction stress during 30 min in the tensilometer, in the presence or absence of photo-activatio...

Influence of cement type on the marginal adaptation of all-ceramic MOD inlays.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the in-vitro marginal adaptation of all-ceramic class II inlays which were luted with conventional multi-stage pre-treatment cements and one new type of cement, which requires no conditioning. METHODS The marginal adaptation of 56 all-ceramic inlays was determined with scanning electron microscopy and microleakage tests. The marginal integrit...
